Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC, Mavhungu Lerule Ramahanya and Health MEC, Dr. Phophi Ramathuba will be leading a joint festive road operation today (10:00), December 24 on the N1 South (Kranskop). This is regarding public transport, unroadworthy vehicles and compliance to Covid19 health protocols.
This after Limpopo has recorded eighteen percent increase of road fatalities since the beginning of this month. Drunk driving, speeding, fatigue, reckless and negligent driving have been identified as the causes of the accidents.
The road safety campaign aims at reducing the number of the road carnages this festive season as the traffic volume is expected to increase today on the Christmas Eve with migrant workers driving home and immigrant heading to the borders.
