The MEC for Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has today called on Taxi Associations to refrain from violence when they encounter fights amongst each other.

This follows acts of violence that led to malicious damage to property and injuries having occurred last Thursday between Mankweng, Moletjie and Seshego\Polokwane Taxi Associations over routes in operation by carrying commuters from Mall of the North to the city of Polokwane.

MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya says the industry leaders must use available structures to raise their frustrations and when they arise as part of the Lekgotla resolutions.

Furthermore, the MEC will meet with the Seshego\Polokwane, Moletjie and Mankweng Taxi Associations in Polokwane this afternoon to address the measures to be taken to end the conflict.

The department says it will communicate the outcome of the meeting and the interim arrangement after meeting with its stakeholders.
