The MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has moved to intensify efforts to combat the spread of Covid-19 at Burgersfort taxi rank in the (Sekhukhune District). 25-litre containers of disinfectants and spray tanks were distributed by the MEC to the Fetakgomo-Tubatsi Municipality and Taxi Associations (yesterday).
This initiative, is part of Government’s intervention at taxi ranks across the province. Over 10000 commuters pass through the Burgersfort taxi rank daily, hence the rank was identified as (one) of the Covid-19 hotspot areas.
Today, we were here as the department, embarking on the decontamination of Burgersfort taxi rank (26 January 2021). The aim of the programme is to ensure that taxi ranks are a safe place to be with regards to Covid-19. Continue to sanitize your hands, keep social distance and wear your masks, says MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya.
The disinfection of taxi ranks will continue in the Waterberg District on Thursday 28 January 2021.
