NQ Minerals commences hauling of gold bearing material at Beaconsfield |  Global Mining Review

LIMPOPO: Ten suspects aged between 20 and 46 have been arrested for possession of presumably unwrought gold bearing material in Giyani 14 May 2021. The Hawks’ Serious Organized Crime Investigation received a tip off about a vehicle that was transporting gold bearing material and followed it up. The vehicle matching a description of the one suspected was spotted driving on the R81 road in Giyani and it was stopped at a joint stop and search operation. The operation was between the Hawks, Mopani District Crime Prevention members , Local Criminal Record Centre, Giyani K9, Traffic Department , and Emergency service personnel.

Upon searching the vehicle, suspicious gold concentrates, mine detector machines with an estimated value of over R200 000.00 were found and seized. Ten occupants were also arrested. All the suspects are expected to appear in the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 17 May 2021 or contravening the Precious Metal Act and Immigration Act.
