Minister of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, will visit the MDR-TB Hospital vaccination site in Modimolle-Mokgopong Local Municipality in Limpopo Province on Friday the 23rd July 2021, as part of the department’s National Vaccine Rollout Plan.
Minister Zulu will be joined by Limpopo MEC for Social Development, Ms Nkakareng Rakgoale and Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba during a walkabout and assessment of a vaccination site at a local hospital.
Ms Lindiwe Zulu launched the National Vaccine Rollout Plan in all provinces earlier this week to ensure that the Social Development Sector is prioritized for the vaccination roll-out during the current phase, given the work undertaken in the social sector.
The vaccination roll-out plan will include frontline workers in the following categories: Community Development Practitioners employed by the Department of Social Development. All Social Service Professionals this includes all social workers, Auxiliary social workers, Student social workers who are currently doing fieldwork. Frontline staff working in the Department of Social Development across the Republic including the South African Social Agency (SASSA), the National Development Agency (NBA) and the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP). The Early Childhood Development (ECD) workforce including ECD practitioners and staff who work in the ECD environment.
