Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba in partnership with the University of Venda will open another COVID-19 vaccination site at the University of Venda on Tuesday the 27th of July 2021, at 09h00am at Thulamela Municipality, Vhembe District.
The site of vaccination will be opened as it forms a secondary site of vaccination to the current Tshilidzini hospital primary site. It is also outlined that this initiative will be implemented to build a relationship between the Limpopo department of health and the institutions of higher learning.
The MEC says, “the site which will focus on vaccinating students and staff from the university will also be open to the public especially now when our focus is mainly those above 35. We believe the site will even be much more relevant from the 1st of September when vaccine roll out will be opened for those 18 as announced by the President and institutions of higher learning does house majority of that cohort”.
Furthermore, the vaccinators from the department of health, nurses at the university clinic and the final year nursing students will be led by the MEC. People aged 35 and above and residing around the University of Venda are invited to receive their vaccination jab.
