Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba during vaccination rollout program she announced that the 36 bedded general wards for surgical and medical cases in Louis Trichardt hospital have been re-opened today, the 27th July 2021 for those general cases. This emanated after a follow up meeting with facility and district management to assess the utilization rate of those wards by Covid-19 patients.
Furthermore she outlined that today the ward rounds they saw, was left with only three COVID-19 patients who are stable and can be catered in isolation unit hence they agreed to re-open the wards. This was the positive news indicating to members responsible for vaccination that they probably might be moving towards the end of the third wave.
“We want to appreciate people of Makhado municipality for their understanding and working with us to make sure behavioral changes play a role in reducing new infections. We want to warn the public now that the regulations have been relaxed, not to drop the guard and start drinking recklessly resulting in drunken driving motor vehicles accidents” announced MEC Dr Ramathuba.
Finally she urged the public also to avoid the drunken stab wounds and many other trauma cases which can put another pressure on the already overburdened healthcare system especially facility which is on N1 road easily accessible by even emergency medical services.
