Hendrick Makaneta, an education activist, has urged the government to track down learners who have dropped out and persuade them to return to class.
Makanate says Covid-19 has heightened the drop out rates in the terrain of education. Government must find a way to track learners who have dropped out and persuade them to get back to class without delay.
He adds that the country has already gone through many difficulties at many levels and education as a terrain has been the hardest hit. However they cannot stand aside and watch as the future of their learners is threatened severely.
The recent spate of violent protests, coupled with the issue of rotational classes have affected learners negatively hence there is a need for government intervention in order to bring this situation to normality.
Schools should urgently update their registers so that the nation can get a sense of the actual number of learners who have dropped out.
