The Molopo Magistrates Court has yesterday, 02 August 2021 set a trial date to 03 November 2021 on the theft case against the suspended Head of Special Commercial Crime Unit (SCCU) in the North West, Advocate Jeanette Nevelling aged 53. The accused Advocate Nevelling appeared at the Magistrates Court with her newly appointed legal representatives, who indicated to the court that they have sent a representation to the office of the NDPP for this matter not to go for trial.

Furthermore, Advocate Mashudu Mudau who has been sent from the Limpopo Division of the NPA to ensure there was no perceived conflict of interest, indicated to the court that the state is ready for trial, pending the decision of the NDPP.

Nevelling was arrested on 16 February 2021 on an allegation of shoplifting at a retail shop, at The Crossing Shopping Mall in Mmabatho. It is alleged that she stole clothing and food items valued at approximately R3000. Advocate Nevelling will remain suspended from discharging her duties in the NPA and her R500 bail has been extended until her next court appearance.
