The Lichtenburg Magistrates Court postponed the alleged sexual offence case against a senior NPA prosecutor to 29 September 2021 for further investigations.
The newly appointed prosecutor from Welkom in the Free State province, requested the court for a further postponement to afford the investigating officer time to complete the complication of the new evidence that has emerged.
The accused aged 45, based in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in the North West is charged with statutory rape, sexual exploitation of children, sexual display or causing display of pornography, sexual grooming of children and sexual assualt. It is alleged that the victim was 15 years of age in 2019 when these offences were committed.
Furthermore, the accused will remain suspended from duty and his bail of R10 000 is extended until his next court appearance.
