The Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation members have arrested the former Lepelle Nkumpi Municipal Supply Chain Officer who is aged 36 and her 26-year-old accomplice this morning at Lebowakgomo in Limpopo province.
Between 2018 and 2020, the suspects who are sisters allegedly bid for tenders at the municipality using the credentials of a company director who was serving a jail term in prison.
The matter was first brought to the attention of the Hawks and they continued with the investigations, where it was found out that the accomplice is a girlfriend to the director of the company whose credentials were used. The municipality suffered a loss of about R150 000.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 02nd of September 2021 to face corruption, fraud, and theft charges.
