A 31-year-old man appeared in the Temba Magistrates’ Court today 29 September, charged with possession of explosives. It is alleged that the Cross Boarder Response Team at the Carousel Toll Plaza stopped a minibus taxi travelling to Limpopo yesterday.

The Cross Border Response Team requested the passengers to get out of the taxi only to find one passenger with detonators after one fleeing away while shooting at the police.

Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu says the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in Johannesburg is focusing on National Priority and Violent Crimes together with the Pretoria Explosives Unit, Gaubullet, Crime Intelligence, Local Criminal Record Centre and Hamanskraal Trio Task Team responded swiftly to the crime scene for preliminary investigation.

Further investigation revealed that the accused, Talent Zangeni aged 31 was travelling from Daveyton to Vuwani in Limpopo and was immediately arrested and charged with illegal possession of explosives. The accused was remanded in custody pending the investigation as the case was postponed to Wednesday, 06 October 2021.
