1 min read

Marapong residents in Lephalale, Waterberg District raised their concerns amid the spike in the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) voting process during the Local Government Elections that took place today, 01 November 2021 at various voting stations across South Africa.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member, Johanna Shiko says the IEC has not been adhering to proper procedure while conducting the votes, this comes after special votes to elderly residents and people living with disabilities has not been implemented as promised.

“I registered to vote but when i went to the voting station to cast my vote, i was told my details are not appearing on the system” said Shiko.

Furthermore, one community member in Marapong also says the IEC Onservers at Kopano Ke Maatla kept them waiting for so long outside in the heat with a long queue standing and prioritised for their people to enter the premises first.
