LIMPOPO SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT MEC CALLS UPON ALL TO STAND AGAINST CRIME

Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale urges communities, the civil society and individual community members to join hands with government in order to realise a crime free society in standing against crime, She was speaking during the launch of Restorative Justice Week at Tshilwavhusiku just outside Louis Trichardt.

MEC Rakgoale says social problems and challenges are some of the contributing factors to high number of contact crimes that are still persistent in communities and this scourge can be dealt with with a co-operation with the NPA, SAPS, Correctional Services as well as Religious representatives Forums.

This comes after Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) that includes rape and murder of women and children, is a cause for concern to the department as perpetrators are stripping away the dignity and rights of vulnerable population.

The week is aimed at showcasing government services aimed at giving support to both the victims and perpetrators of crime, processing children who are in conflict with the law and reintegration of offenders back into society among others.
