Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Offori revealed what makes PSL League much more better than other African League.
Richard Offori spend most of his football career in South Africa where he played for above 5 season with Maritzburg United in 2016/17 (Now called Dubarn City), before joining Pirates back in 2019/20 season.
Ofori attributes the PSL’s superiority to its popularity, stating that it’s the most-watched league in Africa. He draws parallels between the PSL and the English Premier League, emphasising its high level of competition and global appeal.
He revealed that he often receives calls from European-based players seeking opportunities in the South African league, further underscoring its global recognition.
He said “This league is the best league in Africa, No doubt about that, it’s the most watched league in Africa which is what happening in Europe, when you go there EPL is the most watched in world.
“So, in Africa, PSL is the most watched. This means we’re doing something right, it means things are right.
“Some of the European-based players call me that if I have something here I must call them, they are willing to come and play.
“So, it means they see the best that we have here and how beautiful the league is. What I can say is if they were not seeing anything good I’m not sure if they wouldn’t call me wanting to play here.
“The league is amazing, you can see with Bafana Bafana. What we are doing well, we must continue doing it so the league can grow and grow.”
Richard Offori will be hoping to get more minutes when his side will be up against Richards Bay FC in 30th November 2024, kickoff set 15:30.
