Arsenal player praised his teammate after defeating Real Madrid in the first leg of UEFA Champions League

England side shocked the world yesterday as they defeated the defending champion of UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners managed to win their first leg by 3-0 against Real Madrid at Emirates Stadium with Arteta side displayed fantastic display.

Arsenal player Mikel Merino praised the Manchester City midfielder who is on loan Declan Rice who scored two beautiful.

Merino said “We had a few free-kicks in the past week that we didn’t score, but Rice has one of the best shooting abilities that i’ve seen in my career. I’m not surprised, maybe you are. Hopefully more will come in the future.”

Merino was also part of the squad that won against Madrid as he managed to score the third goal for Arteta’s side.

The last time when Gunners progressed to into the semi-finals of UEFA Champions League was back in 2009.

Merino went on to give special praise to the fans whom turned out in number to support them and encouraged them.

He said “In the dressing room we talked about keeping the rhythm and tempo of the match, with the help of the crowd on our side.

“The second half was incredible, we played at our best. When this team plays like that with our people here…”
