The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged communities to intensify the fight against gender based violence following attacks which resulted in deaths recently in Sekhukhune District The latest incident happened at Ka Petsa village in Apel policing area on Saturday, 30 November 2024, involving a 50 year old woman who was killed in her home.

The deceased was found dead in her house in what appears to be a domestic related dispute.

It is alleged that on Saturday 30 November 2024, the deceased was alone at her home and her husband left in the morning for some piece jobs and arrived late at about 21h00.

When he apparently knocked at both two doors of their common homes, all were locked and there was no response.

Apparently he then decided to open since he was in possession of spare key and found food already prepared for him and he enjoyed his dinner and went to sleep till the following day.

Further information suggested that the husband and the woman were staying in the same premises but different houses.

The woman the following day was found dead in her house and police investigations, although no arrest has been effected, believe that a known man who is staying within the same vicinity and used to frequent the place, might assist the police the investigation and in resolving the case.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has reiteratied that this incident follow hard in the heels of the Ntoane incident where a 42 year old woman was allegedly brutally woman murdered by the husband who later was found hanging in a tree.

The Provincial Commissioner has urged people in the relationships to seek assistance if they are facing relationship challenges.
