EPL match official is suspended after his comment towards former Liverpool coach

English Premier League are now one man down in the department of officials, this happened after one of referee been suspended.

The match official David Coote aged 42 got punishment after referees’ body, the PGMOL, conducted a “thorough investigation” into his comments.

Coote was placed on hold by the PGMOL (the Professional Game Match Officials Limited) on 11 November, pending a full investigation after a video allegedly showing him making derogatory comments about Liverpool and the club’s former manager Jurgen Klopp was circulated on social media.

BBC Sports reports that a further investigation was opened two days later after the Sun published photos it says were taken during this summer’s European Championship, alleging that they appear to show Coote sniffing a white powder through a rolled up US bank note.

PGMOL sharet statement regarding the matter of David Coote as something that is not acceptable and noted that they will support him as he is valuable to them.

They wrote “David Coote’s actions were found to be in serious breach of the provisions of his employment contract.

“Supporting David Coote continues to be important to us and we remain committed to his welfare.”
