Former Magesi coach revealed that he doesn’t think much about coaching one of the big 3 in South Africa

Clinton Larsen who managed to help the Moletsi based club(Dikwena tsa meetsi) get promotion from Motsepe Foundation Championship, didn’t last long as he was fired.

Larsen who is well experienced as a coach, he managed to win major trophy with Magesi FC after defeating Sundowns on final of Carling Black Lable Cup by 2-1.

After that Larsen went on to play 9 games while registered single victory, 3 draws and 5 loss and his position is taken by Owen Da Gama.

Currently Magesi FC have avoided the relegation as they found themselves on 12th Spot with 7 games left.

Clinton Larsen who’s currently clubless shared that coaching one of the top teams in South Africa it’s something that he would love to do.

He said “A lot of coaches, including local coaches, have had an opportunity to coach those clubs but have not won anything.

“At Kaizer Chiefs, Sundowns and Pirates, there are coaches who have been there and have not won anything. Maybe not at Sundowns, but I know the other [two] clubs, [it has happened].

“But I’ve always said this: football is my love and passion. I’m not obsessed with coaching in the PSL [top-flight]. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. I’m also not obsessed with coaching a big club.”

As they usually says dream big, it is the same wish that Larsen wishes for but he highlighted that even if that opportunity doesn’t present itself he won’t stress too much.

He said “It would be nice one day if it happened, but for me, it’s not the most important thing because, as I said, it would be nice to test yourself as a coach with the calibre of players that these clubs have and see what you can do with such talented groups of players.

“Unfortunately, I’ve always coached small teams from Chippa [United], to [Golden] Arrows, to Maritzburg [United], to [Bloemfontein] Celtic, to Magesi.

“It has always been small to medium-sized clubs. But like I said, I’ve lived an underdog life since I was a kid, like most South Africans have. And for me, that’s something I really, really enjoy.”

On his conclusion the former Bloemfontein Celtic coach pointed out that he enjoys creating memories with any team he coach and more especially the small clubs.

Clinton Larsen said “When you enjoy success with smaller teams, it’s really memories that will last for the rest of your life.”
