Orlando Pirates coach says they will not focus too much on their defeat

Yesterday Orlando Pirates failed to equalise points and claim first spot after their shocker defeat at DHL Stadium.

Orlando Pirates squandered their chance to claim first position after their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Cape Town City.

Pirates missed few chances for the entire game as players such as Kabelo Dlamini hit cross bar during first half.

During the second half pirates continued with their dominance and they were eventually awarded penalty which was missed by Patrick Maswanganyi.

Then the citizens got their opportunity through Darwin Gonzalez who gave homeside lead and full three points.

After the match Jose Riveiro emphasized that he does not understand how his side ended up the match without a single point.

He said “I cannot do an analysis here right now, It’s actually quite difficult to explain the final result. I think the difference between both teams was too big this time.”

“With all respect for the game of Cape Town City, it’s difficult to explain that we lost this game the way we did.”

Despite dropping points in Cape Town, Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro highlighted that he is proud about the performance his troops displayed.

He said “But this is football; they managed to put one ball in the net, and we didn’t. But a very complete performance, we did everything to win the match. Not much that you can do.”

Orlando Pirates coach went on to emphasize that what happened was not normal and it is bad luck with how they lost.

Riveiro said “It’s just pure bad luck in this case. Did you see the way they score? It’s something not normal.”

Jose Riveiro didn’t let lose to fold blind him as he revealed that he want his boys to continue the way they did against Cape Town City.

He said “Again, like I said, we were Pirates tonight; we played the football that we played before.

“There were other games that we didn’t play at the level we played tonight where we got the result, but today we didn’t make it.”

Orlando Pirates tactician highlighted that they are not going to dwell on this loss and they will put their focus on the next task.

Riveiro said “Now we have to put our name onto the next one; this one is gone.”

As the Orlando Pirates prepare for their next match, the challenge will be not only to recover from this setback but to reaffirm their position as title contenders.

Jose Riveiro together with his troops will be hoping to repay the Buccaneers faithful with positive results when they will be taking on CR Belouizdad on Sunday 12th January at Orlando Stadium(CAF Champions League), kickoff set at 15:00.

After Sunday’s fixture Riveiro together with his troops will have to prepare for another tough CAF Champions League fixture against Al Ahly SC on Wednesday (18th January) and kickoff set at 18:00.
