The president of Malawian Football Association(FAM) Fleetwood Haiya was impressed and have a believe that they (Flames) have bright future.
Haiya invited all players for the dinner after 3-0 emphatic victory over Burkina Faso on Monday at Golden Peacock in Lilongwe.
Even though their(Malawi) win didn’t help them to qualify, Haiya congratulated the players for their effort.
He said “A special shout out to the team for finishing the group stage on a high though we didn’t qualify but the future looks bright.
The FAM president emphasized that the dinner was aimed to encourage the team to work harder in their next assignments which include, the World Cup Qualifiers against Namibia and Tunisia in March 2025.
The Flames had a tough AFCON qualification campaign, losing all but two of their matches. Their only points came from a draw against Burundi last week and the recent win over Burkina Faso.
Malawi were place on group L with Senegal, Burkina Faso and Burundi and they managed to collect 4 points out of Six matches.
The Flames are going to turn their attentions to the World Cup qualifier next month and hoping to sealing the spot at major tournament.
