Royal Am coach revealed that FIFA break was blessing to them

Like any other coach globally, Royal Am coach John Maduka used FIFA to implement and develop some new tactics.

Royal Am started this campaign on low note as they have managed to collect four points out of draws.

Maduka highlighted that the break provided an opportunity for players to rest, play friendly matches, and ensure the squad remained sharp.

Even though they played with lower division sides Mkhambathini FC and Newcastle United FC (Safa), Maduka feels like his players have gained match fitness.

He said “These are lower-division sides, but it was a good exercise, Those two friendlies were tough in their way, and we used them to give all players a chance to express themselves without the pressure of playing against PSL opponents.

“We essentially fielded two different teams in one game to ensure everyone got a fair opportunity to take the field.”

Maduka also highlighted that players were able to comply and understand his tactics as well as knowing how to approach game.

He said “The break gave us time to scrutinise the technical side of our game and try out new tactics. These games were not just about staying fit but also about learning what works,”

Maduka also emphasized that sometimes FIFA break do unjustice as some players who are on form might lose their sharpness.

He said “While the pause was good, it can cause players to become rusty if not managed carefully. That’s why maintaining focus during the break was crucial.”

Maduka will be hoping his boys will show what they learned when his side will be facing Golden Arrows.

Speaking about their upcoming fixture for next week, Maduka revealed that the match will be difficult but they will use home advantage.

He said “We are ready and have prepared very well, but it’s going to be a tough game. It’s a KZN derby, so it will be highly competitive.

“While playing at home and in front of our supporters gives us some advantage, we know it will be challenging for both teams.

The fixture will take place next week Tuesday at Harry Gwala Stadium and kickoff is set to take place on 7.30 pm.
