As all nations been confirmed to participate in Morocco for the upcoming AFCON, every player wishes to be part of the tournament.
It is not the different with AmaZulu FC striker Augustine Mulenga as he wishes to be called up by the national team coach.
Mulenga was not part of the group that secured the tickets for Zambia for the upcoming AFCON in Morocco.
So far Mulenga was not featured many times in the color of AmaZulu FC as he managed to play 1 match this season.
Mulenga revealed that once national team qualify for AFCON all players start pulling up their socks with a hope to make it into the national squad.
He said “Yes, being a soccer player, it’s every player’s dream to play for their national team, and when the nation qualified for the AFCON, I’m sure each and everyone always tries to work extra hard so that he can have that opportunity to represent the country.
“I’m sure, even to me, I’m going to work so hard and see when the time comes if I’m going to be selected or not, but I have confidence in myself that I will be there.”
After recovering from injury, Mulenga hopes to impress AmaZulu co-coaches Vusumuzi Vilakazi and Arthur Zwane to get the much-needed game time.
He said “Yes, it starts from the club, and in the first round I haven’t played much games because of the injury, but now I’ve recovered and I’m sure I’ll start playing soon.
“When the coaches give me that opportunity, and I’m back on the field, I’m going to try by all means to give my best and find myself back in the national team.”
Amazulu FC will be heading into their next fixture after collecting maximum points from their previous fixture.
Amazulu FC will be hoping to continue with their fine form when they will be hosting Stellenbosch FC on 23rd January for Betway Premiership.
Zwane together with his troops are currently occupying number 9 spot after playing 13 games and managed to collect 16 points.
