Thohoyandou High Court in Vhembe sentenced a 46-year-old male accused, Lidzhade Tendani face 18 years imprisonment for a murder of his girlfriend (29), on Wednesday, 12 February 2025.
The sentence comes after the court found that the accused assaulted his girlfriend with wooden stick to death on 2019/12/01 at about 17:40 at Maangani village in Mphephu policing precinct.
The accused had suspicions that her girlfriend was having an affair with somebody else. Subsequent to the incident, the accused carried the motionless body of the victim to his vehicle’s backseat and drove to another household in Matanda village, where he requested water.
He then poured at the victim. His suspicious movements led the community member to alert the police. They swiftly responded, and the victim was found and certified dead. He was placed under arrest for murder.
The case was investigated by Detective Sergeant Tshivhula Patricia of Mphephu. The accused was granted R1000-00 bail until 12/02/2025 when he was found guilty and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the decision by court and praised the investigating officer and everyone involved in the case until this accused was convicted and sentenced to jail term.
