Western Cape Commissioner announced that they deployed Police at different Exam writing centers within province

According to SAPS statement: As part of a provincial wide campaign to inspect the state of readiness for the Safer Festive Season operations under #OperationShanela2, Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen (Adv.) Thembisile Patekile and senior provincial police management joined key stakeholders, at the launch for the Central Karoo District hosted at the Niko Brummer Primary School in Beaufort West, on Wednesday, 22 October 2025.

The Provincial Commissioner was accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing, Maj Gen Luyanda Damoyi and were joined by the Executive Mayor of Beaufort West, Councillor Juliana Duimpies, representatives from the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster, local government representatives, South African National Parks, community safety structures, Business Against Crime and members of the public.

This launch forms part an annual campaign on the SAPS calendar where the state of readiness to safeguard communities is announced and displayed.

It also highlight the collaborative efforts[team work] of all external role-players in the fight against crime.

The Provincial Commissioner received the operational plan and inspected resources already deployed, whilst the audience was serenated by the Western Cape SAPS band with music.

He conveyed well wishes to Grade 12 learners who embarked on their final exams and assured the public that police are deployed around examination centres to ensure that learners are writing exams in a safe environment.
