According to SAPS statement: During the Ministerial Imbizo, community members shared powerful and deeply concerning testimonies about the realities of life in Tlhatlhaganyane Village.
Many spoke about issues beyond #illegalmining, land disputes, ongoing violent crimes, and the loss of lives.
Here are what other members said “Something must be done with members of the community.” and that was a call on the DMRE to take accountability for their role in these unsafe community.
Parents raised the alarming impact on children, who hear gunfire and explosives daily. One mother shared the heartbreak of losing her child to a shooting, “We have kids and so do you, we deserve answers, we deserve protection.”
Community members also emphasised the urgent need for leadership, not only politically but also from local chiefs and authorities, to ensure safety, justice, and accountability in the area.Lives are at stake.
