Capricorn District Municipality and Department of Transport and road safety aims to ensure the safety and rules of road ahead of December festivals

According to Department: The October Transport Month law enforcement operation is in full swing in the Waterberg and Capricorn Districts, with a strong focus on public commuter transport.

Our Public Transport Unit, in collaboration with Municipal Traffic and other stakeholders, has been conducting thorough checks on public transport vehicles, prioritizing roadworthiness and compliance with safety regulations.

Recent operations have yielded significant results, with multiple vehicles impounded for various offenses, including operating without licenses and overloading.

In the Capricorn District, a total of 105 Vehicle Safety Checks were conducted, resulting in multiple summonses and impoundments, with a total value of R112,000.

Similar operations were conducted in Northam, Lephalale, and Thabazimbi, resulting in further impoundments and fines totaling tens of thousands of rand.

These operations are a clear demonstration of our commitment to road safety and our determination to ensure that public transport vehicles comply with the law.
