According to SAPS statement: A 35-year-old male has been arrested at Kutlwanong location, after police discovered drugs and money hidden in the vehicle he was driving.
It is alleged that while members attached to Welkom Public Order Police (POP) platoon 5 were busy with their crime combating duties, on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, they stopped a white Volkswagen Polo with one male occupant inside at K9 Section.
Members[private police unit] requested permission[court warrant of search]to search, and it was granted.
Police proceeded to search, and while searching the vehicle, they discovered that drugs and money were hidden underneath the rear passenger seat.
Police confiscated 95 x ziplock bags containing crystal meth, 19 x ziplock bags nyaope, 8 x full mandrax tablets, one white Volkswagen Polo and cash to the amount of R1 125.00.
The 35-year-old foreign national was subsequently[his arrest was made on the same spot]arrested.
He is facing charges of possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, and contravention of the illegal immigration act.
He is expected(awaiting for his pending decision) to appear before the Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s Court soon.
