Free State police have announced date for SAPS marathon in the city

According to SAPS statement: The Free State South African Police Service (SAPS) will host the inaugural Half-Marathon in Bloemfontein on 11 October 2025.

This historic event is set to bring together athletes, police officers, and members of the community in support of a noble cause.

All proceeds from the Half-Marathon will be directed to the South African Police Service Education Trust (#SAPSET), an initiative dedicated to supporting the education of children of SAPS members who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Established in 2010, SAPSET provides vital financial and resource support, covering educational costs from Grade R through to tertiary level.

This includes tuition fees, stationery, and school uniforms ensuring that the children of fallen heroes have access to quality education and opportunities for a brighter future.

This Half-Marathon not only promotes health and fitness but also the spirit of solidarity and remembrance, honouring the sacrifices made by SAPS members while investing in the future of their children.

The race consists of 5km, 10km and 21km distances with prices starting at R80 per race. A temporary license fee can also be paid for the 10 and 21 km run.
