According to Department statement: Road Closure Notice: R71 Magobaskloof, The R71 Magobaskloof road is currently closed due to fuel spillage.
Cleaning operations are underway and the road will be temporarily closed until further notice[Department will update when will it be opened].
Alternative Routes:- For motorists traveling from Polokwane or Tzaneen, you can use: – R528 Gorges Valley – Duiwelakloof R36 to R81 to Polokwane.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused and will provide updates on the progress. Please plan your route accordingly and exercise caution on the roads.
NB: R71 road between the Moria and Magobaskloof has been dangerous roads where multiple accidents had been occurring frequently.
The last time when major accident occurs on the road(R71) it was when the gas truck had accident and gas exploided.
Note: Earlier on this year it was reported that the same road was reported to be following down.
