According to SAPS statement: Two Bloemfontein Public Order Police (POP) sport teams, namely netball and soccer have excelled during the 2025 Interprovincial Tournament, that was held at Johannesburg in Gauteng Province.
Both the netball and soccer teams won gold medals and trophies during the annual tournament for Public Order Police.
This year’s tournament was held on the 31 October 2025, in Johannesburg. The duo were defending the trophies for the third time consecutively, from 2023 till 2025.
According to soccer team Captain Constable Elvast Azor, it was not any easy quest to defend their title for the third time in a row.
His team showed character and conquered against tough POP teams.Acting Free State Provincial Commissioner, Major General Solly Lesia, pledged the provincial management support to different sporting codes.
Gen Lesia stated, “as management we will support any member that contributes to the positive image of the organisation.”
During his address Gen Lesia advised members to continue with their sporting codes as a healthy body produces a healthy mind.
He commended members for excelling duing the tournament despite challenges that they faced prior to the tournament.
Gen Lesia was impressed that members excelled without seeking any excuses during their quest to defend their trophies.
Gen Lesia further encouraged members to ensure that their safety and the safety of community members is not compromised while executing their duties in the fight against crime.
