Deputy President Paul Mashatile officially launched the Centre of Specialisation (CoS) and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Laboratory at the Gert Sibande TVET College Skills and Artisan Development Centre in Standerton.
He was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Buti Manamela Following the official opening, the delegation toured the newly launched facilities and engaged with lecturers and students enrolled in various programmes.
These programmes are designed to address priority skills required for the implementation of the government’s National Development Plan, with particular emphasis on the Strategic Integrated Projects under the National Infrastructure Plan.
The initiative forms part of a broader effort to strengthen the capacity of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college system.
It aims to enhance the delivery of quality, industry-aligned trade qualifications through strong partnerships with employers, ensuring that graduates are equipped with relevant skills to meet the demands of the evolving economy.
The launch marks a significant milestone in advancing skills development and innovation, positioning TVET colleges as key drivers in supporting South Africa’s economic growth and infrastructure development agenda.
