CDM OBSERVES INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SERVICE MONTH AND THUSONG SERVICE CENTRE WEEK

Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) has joined the rest of South Africa in observing International Public Service Month and Thusong Service Centre Week this September.

Today, through Batho Pele programme held at Festus Mothudi TSC in Botlokwa under Molemole Local Municipality, government officials were urged to strengthen service delivery, restore public trust and promote professionalism in the public sector.

The Thusong Service Centre Week, showcases Thusong Centres as one-stop hubs for essential services such as Home Affairs, Social Development, SASSA and Labour.

Local communities benefit from mobile outreach programmes and on-site services designed to bring government closer to the people.

The 2025 theme, “Professionalising the Public Service to Build Trust and Restore Confidence in Government”, emphasises accountability, ethical conduct and direct citizen engagement. Public servants are expected to spend time at schools, hospitals, clinics and community facilities to identify challenges and improve service points.

CDM’s Communications Unit used the occasion to engage frontline officials on the Batho Pele principles, focusing on how best services can be delivered and communicated to the community.Sector departments and other internal municipal units presented on services available to communities such as provision of Community Wifi, Operations and Maintenance, Smarter Meters and revenue collection, Home Affairs and SASSA services, etc.
