The South African Police Service (SAPS) welcomes the #sentencing of three accused to a combined 69 years imprisonment for armed robbery, possession of suspected stolen property, and possession of unlicensed firearms.
The Johannesburg Magistrate Court handed down the sentence[took decision] on 12 September 2025.
The suspects, involved in a robbery with a firearm in Yeoville on 26 September 2023, were found guilty of robbing a woman of her cellphone at gunpoint.
The Investigating Officer Sergeant Ronald Hlengani gathered crucial evidence and presented it before the Magistrate court, leading to the conviction.
The court handed down the following sentences:
* Pilet Ncube (22): 16 years imprisonment, declared unfit to possess a firearm, and deportation.
* Arnold Ncube (28): 34 years imprisonment, declared unfit to possess a firearm, and deportation.
* Lucky Sibanda (26): 19 years imprisonment, declared unfit to possess a firearm, and deportation.
