#OperationShanela II multiparty crime prevention collaboration in Mangaung Metro gains momentum.
During disruptive actions in Leo Bartel Street East End industrial area – Heidedal police station, the police intercepted three suspects aged 35, 42 and 57 in possession of housebreaking implements, police bullet proof/ branded mask and a balaclava.
The suspects were(Spotted while driving)driving a White Volkswagen Polo, and their cellphones were confiscated.
Messages of a planned robbery were retrieved from the cellphones where they planned to rob a certain business of gold ornaments and cash.
The fourth fleeing suspect was apprehended by a passing taxi driver who handed him over at Bloemspruit police station.
Members of Public Order Policing Unit Bloemfontein deployed in Kopanong police station area followed up on information, and a search was conducted at a house in Namibia Square.
A Red mountain bike suspected to be stolen was recovered, and a 27-year-old male was immediately placed under arrest.
A 32-inch Muller screen was recovered at the next address, and an 18-year-old suspect was arrested.
The search operation was extended to Hanger Street in Bloemfontein CBD, where a 42-inch Samsung television was recovered, and 47-year-old foreign national was arrested for possession of presumably stolen property.
The integrated team continued to conduct operational concepts in different identified crime hotspot areas.
Nine (9) suspects aged between 19 and 33 were arrested in Joe Solomons, Waaihoek, and Hillcrest Streets in Opkoms and Ashbury in Heidedal.
