According to SAPS statement: The continued efforts of the police to eradicate the illegal possession of firearms are yielding results, with the confiscation of two unlicensed firearms and several rounds of ammunition in Swellendam.
On Monday, 22 September 2025, at about 17:15, Swellendam police members responded to a complaint at a residence in Voortrekker Street.
While on the scene, they received information about possible firearms in the possession of an occupant of the premises.
Acting on the information, the members discovered two 9mm pistols, four imitation firearms, and 378 rounds of ammunition of various calibres.
The man found at the premises was unable to account for the items, which were subsequently confiscated.
He was arrested on charges[different account of offence) unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The 35-year-old suspect remains(awaits his vidict)in police custody and will appear in court once charged
