As the ruling party African National Congress celebrate 27th anniversary, their top elite were also present.
Yesterday the Presidency of the congress Cyril Ramaphosa shared his view regarding the movement of the youth as the country was celebrated Reconciliation Day.
Today the former president of the youth congress Fikile Mbalula pointed out that it is important to allow the youth to be part of the party.
On his statement Mbalula emphasized that:
Today I delivered the closing address at the ANCYL 27th National Congress. In my address I emphasised that the ANCYL’s primary role is not just to bring young members into the fold of the ANC, but to be the leading political voice for all South African youth.
It must be the space for fearless, revolutionary debate grounding its activism in the theory of the NDR, not in populism or factionalism.
The League must set the agenda on youth-specific issues: the crisis of unemployment, skills revolution, quality education, land access, and climate justice. It must move from reacting to ANC policies to proposing them.
To the newly elected leadership of the Youth League, congratulations. You have not won titles, you have inherited a massive responsibility.
The ANC NEC expects to collaborate with you closely, not as subordinates, but as strategic partners in the renewal of our movement and the transformation of our country.
Note: In the past the African National Congress has never had a young person on the top positions within the party.
