South Africa has been experiencing the high number of crime activities and some end up being unsolved.
Crime such as human trafficking and killing of individual and groups of alcohol consumers at tarvens/pub clubs, are the ones that lead the high rate/dominate.
The one is the crime such as goods stolen/vandalism of the property is the one that affect many cities and communities.
South African Police Service has pleaded with the members of community to report any stolen goods to the station.
Here is the statement released by SAPS:
The unacceptable occurrence of crimes relating to essential infrastructure, which poses a risk to, inter alia, public safety, electricity supply, water, sanitation, communications, and transportation, is concerning.
Tampering with, damaging, or destroying essential infrastructure, as well as receiving or possessing suspected stolen property associated with essential infrastructure, is a criminal offence.
The following precautionary measures can be implemented to curb crimes relating to essential infrastructure:
• Install physical deterrents such as fences, impact-resistant glass, and strong locks and doors.
• Ensure bright security lights inside and outside the property.
• Clean up vandalism and remove or repair any damaged items as soon as possible.
• Install video surveillance.
• Hire Security Services Companies to provide security guards.
Say no to stolen goodsReject and report stolen goods. Purchasing goods obtained illegally motivates criminals to repeat their actions.
You can help your community and SAPS to arrest perpetrators and buyers of stolen goods by:
• Practicing responsible purchasing of second-hand goods
• Blowing the whistle on stolen goods
• Informing the police of illegal second-hand goods dealers or recyclers
• Reporting copper cable theft to the police
• Providing SAPS with information on illegal activities and the whereabouts of criminals.
The theft of ferrous and non-ferrous metals is a global economic threat that requires immediate intervention by all stakeholders in an integrated and coherent manner.
Reject and report any goods you suspect may have been stolen to the police, and blow the whistle on acts of essential infrastructure theft, unscrupulous dealers, suspicious individuals, suspected stolen goods, and cable theft at your nearest police station or anonymously via the SAPS #CrimeStopCrimeStop number 08600 10111.
