SAPS is Constitutionally mandated to prevent, combat and investigate crime, maintain public order, and protect and secure the inhabitants of the Republic.
However, in recent years, SAPS has continued to face systemic and persistent challenges relating to fraud, corruption, ethical breaches, and misconduct.
These challenges undermine operational effectiveness, distort organisational culture, weaken internal governance systems, and critically erode public trust.
