Strengthening the SRD Grant through Evidence-Based Insights As the engagement continues in East London, the Department of Social Development, together with SASSA officials and key partners, is deepening discussions on improving the targeting of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD).
Today’s discussions are guided by research insights showing that the SRD has significantly reduced food poverty lifting approximately 1.8 million people out of extreme poverty and continues to support livelihoods by enabling beneficiaries to actively seek employment opportunities.
The engagement also focuses on refining targeting mechanisms, including reviewing income thresholds and leveraging data systems to ensure that support reaches the most vulnerable.
Dr Maureen Mogotsi (DSD) emphasised the importance of evidence-driven policymaking, noting that strengthening the SRD grant is critical to advancing social protection and improving the lives of millions of South Africans.
NB: South African Social Security Agency is paying the illegal immigration who came into the country illegally.
Meanwhile many South Africans citizens are not receiving the money that meant to help assist them.
Note: They are some of the politicians who are earning the social grands while they are working for government.
