Limpopo SAPS have launched program to fight crime during this festival season

According to SAPS statement: As part of accelerating the the fight against crime during the heightened Festive Season period, the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, will on Friday, 19 December 2025, lead a Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) Imbizo and community engagement in Namakgale, Mopani District.

Department(SAPS) further emphasized: Imbizo forms part of intensified SAPS-led efforts to fight gender-based violence and femicide, strengthen community safety, and reinforce a zero-tolerance stance against violent crime, particularly crimes committed against women and children during the festive season.

The engagement will be conducted jointly with various government departments, community structures, and strategic stakeholders, underscoring the importance of a collective, multi-sectoral approach in addressing GBVF.

The Provincial Commissioner will be joined by the MMC for Community Safety in Mopani, Cllr Shibambu, Deputy Provincial Commissioners and the Mopani District Commissioner, Major General Willy Mashava.

The programme will focus on community mobilisation, crime prevention awareness, victim support, and encouraging communities to speak out against abuse and all forms of criminality.

The event will be attended by traditional leadership, local government, civil society formations, faith-based organisations, Community Policing Forums, and other strategic partners, united in the fight to create safer communities.
