MEC of Transport and Community Safety lead the operation of#Arrive alive in Limpopo

According to Phalaborwa municipality statement: The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye, today officially launched the annual October Transport Month campaign in Namakgale, along the busy R71 road within the Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality.

The launch event, which began with a public awareness activation on the R71, one of Phalaborwa’s most frequented routes is currently underway at the Namakgale Community Hall.

This year’s campaign focuses sharply on passenger[including those who are walking] safety.

“This year, our focus is squarely on passenger safety,” MEC Mathye stated, highlighting the critical nature of ensuring all commuters reach their destinations unharmed.

The MEC specifically addressed road users, urging them to adopt responsible driving habits.

She implored motorists to heed the regulations, saying, “Make sure that you adhere to the rules of the road and be responsible.”

Her message stressed that every driver plays a vital role in curbing road fatalities and ensuring that everyone “arrive[s] at their destination safe.”

The official programme has drawn key stakeholders committed to road safety and public transport, including the Acting Mopani Executive Mayor, MMC Basani Shivambu, Ba-Phalaborwa Acting Mayor, Cllr Thompson Nkuna, the Provincial Taxi Council, the South African National Small Bus Operators Council (SANSBOC), and the South African Council of Churches.

The launch aims to significantly raise awareness about road safety challenges and the critical responsibility of every road user during this focused month of transport activities.

NB: South Africa is celebrating the transport industry this month and all workers of transport are urged to work harder.
