Efforts to rid the streets of the Western Cape of the illegal firearms and ammunition yielded positive results when members of the #AntiGangUnit confiscated firearms and ammunition in Delft and Kleinvlei.
Earlier on today 30 September 2025, the members[police task team] conducted foot patrols in the vicinity of Delft South Informal Settlement and found 19 rounds of ammunition abandoned.
They further followed up on information and approached a premises on foot when they saw a suspicious looking male running when he saw the police members approaching him.
He(suspect) was trying to gain entry to the property and threw (in order to hide his gun) a firearm on the roof.
The members(were quick enough)caught up with him and found a 9mm short pistol with seven rounds on the roof.
This swift response of the members resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old suspect for possession of a unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Furthermore the members proceeded to a premises in Wolga Street, Delft South where a search was conducted and a revolver was confiscated. A 59-year-old male was arrested who could not produce a firearm permit/license.
In an unrelated incident on Monday, 29 September 2025, the members received information of a firearm being kept at a premises in Spandau, Kleinvlei.
The information was operationalised which led the team to a wendy house at the mentioned address, where they conducted a search of the premises and found a 9mm pistol with serial number removed and six 9mm rounds in a plastic bag hidden underneath the floorboard at the entrance of the wendy house.
A 33-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
