During the ongoing Bloem Show 2026, Acting Provincial Head for Corporate Communication and Liaison Service, Free State, Colonel Mamiki Moeketsi participated in an interview with Zita Filmz, where she spoke about the role of the South African Police Service (SAPS) at the show and the importance of the SAPS Band’s participation.
Colonel Moeketsi explained that the core responsibility of SAPS at Bloem Show 2026 is to create and maintain a safe and secure environment for all exhibitors, visitors, and stakeholders attending the event.
She emphasised that safety remains the foundation of SAPS operations during large public gatherings such as the Bloem Show.
She further highlighted the important role played by the SAPS Band at the show, noting that music creates a welcoming atmosphere and strengthens the connection between the police and the community.
The presence of the band helps to promote positive engagement and allows the public to interact with SAPS members in a relaxed and friendly environment.
When asked about the importance of the public sector being part of Bloem Show 2026, Colonel Moeketsi stated that such platforms provide an opportunity for SAPS to engage directly with the community, educate the public, and reinforce the message that the fight against crime requires a collective effort.
She stressed that crime prevention is a shared responsibility and that public participation is essential in building safer communities.
She also mentioned that SAPS aims to bring relevant units and components together to showcase the services they provide and to educate the public about the different divisions within the organisation.
This helps in building trust, improving visibility, and strengthening relationships between SAPS and the community.
Colonel Moeketsi concluded by confirming that SAPS looks forward to returning to Bloem Show 2027, where they will continue to educate the public about the various units and components within SAPS while further building trust and improving service delivery through meaningful community engagement and return on investment (ROI).
