Mayor of the city set to host the budget review of 2025/2026 worth of R4.6bn allocate from the National budget.
The Mayor will also be looking at the expense the municipality are using money on and how to reduce it and improve the service delivery to the people.
Executive Mayor Cllr Makoro John Mpe will outline the municipality’s service delivery progress, budget, and strategic future plans, following up on the 2025 theme “Polokwane is on the rise, even with limited resources”.
On top of that they are some key aspects areas where the city should put their main focus on ahead of their budget review.

Date: May 8, 2026.
Venue: Jack Botes Hall, Polokwane.
Focus Areas: The address typically focuses on infrastructure, economic development, and community services for the upcoming financial year.
Road Closures: Temporary closures are expected around Jack Botes Hall, historically including sections of Bodenstein and Hans van Rensburg streets, during the proceedings.
Key details the budget will be allocated for:
Public Participation & Accountability: Costs associated with holding public meetings, such as the “Breakaway engagement session” where residents discuss ward-specific needs.
Showcasing Infrastructure Projects: Promoting the municipality’s capital projects (e.g., in water, sanitation, and roads) which received over R800 million in allocations for the 2025/26 financial year.
Dissemination of Information: Producing and distributing the budget, Integrated Development Plan (IDP), and financial reports to stakeholders.
Promoting Civic Pride & Engagement: Providing a platform for the Executive Mayor to communicate with residents, business owners, and youth.
NB: Municipality of Polokwane has become the one of the most corrupt Municipality as the city has not yet reached the development it supposed to be on.
They are some roads and other infrastructure that are not yet done throughly by municipal such Roads that connect with N1 and the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Notes: They are still some areas under the Reaga Municipality that still have no water amongst other lack of service delivery.
