North West Community Safety MEC Wessels Morweng has visited the family of the late community activist Daniel Letsie Makhabe, known as “Mokoena Letsie,” to pay condolences to the family

North West Community Safety MEC Wessels Morweng has visited the family of the late community activist Daniel Letsie Makhabe, known as “Mokoena Letsie,” who was tragically shot and killed on May 27, 2026, at the Hashtag informal settlement in Sonderwater, Ikageng.

The MEC strongly condemned the shooting, which is widely believed to be a politically motivated assassination.

Mokoena Letsie (40), a prominent grassroots campaigner for the Solidarity Action Committee Collective (SACC) and Potch4Palestine, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Another man was shot in the head during the same incident and remains in the hospital in serious condition.

MEC Morweng expressed deep shock and concern over a “deliberate intention to silence the voice of community activists,” especially following the recent murder of another activist, Thato Molosankwe, in Mahikeng.

Ikageng detectives are investigating the murder and attempted murder. As of the MEC’s visit, no arrests have been made.

Law enforcement is urging the public to assist with the investigation. Information can be shared with Detective Warrant Officer Tommy Sekhu at 082 661 6528, anonymously via the Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111, or through the MySAPS App.

NB: The native citizens of South Africa are getting killed under the illegal immigration and drugs kingpin as well as syndicates of Human trafficking.

When such incidents occurs, all the time South African Human Rights Commission remains mum about the situation.

Even during the time 30 young children’s were feed poisoners foods and died, SAHRC has never demanded the accountability from illegal immigrants whom run spaza shops even today.

Note: The same SAHRC has taken our people to Court include the mayor from KZN after South Africans want foreigners out of their communities and cities.

Last time the South African Human Rights commission took activist party such as Operation Dudula and March on March to court but fail to take illegal immigrants to court after they have committed malicious activities against South Africans.
