South African Police Service have opened case docket of attempted murder was opened at Parkweg police station.
This is after an injured taxi driver and a crew arrived at the community service center to report that they were attacked by unknown persons at Majakathata Long Taxi Rank – Short Street, Bloemfontein Central Business District yesterday, Thursday 19 February 2026.
The two victims were driving a minibus riddled with bullets. A total number of 29 bullet holes could be counted on the bus.
According to the crew, the taxi, which belongs to Joselda Taxi Association, traveled from Gauteng Province to Bloemfontein with 21 passengers and offloaded at Majakathata Long Distance Taxi Rank.
The two males then decide to leave the taxi rank to buy food at approximately quarter pass nine at evening.
As they were about to turn into Short Street, they were attacked with a hail of bullets from across the street by unknown and unidentified assailants.
The taxi driver kept on driving until they reached Parkweg Police Station. The 30-year-old injured taxi driver was rushed to local hospotal.
Crime Scene Experts arrived to process the scene. Eleven (11) spent bullet cartridges of R4 and R5 assault rifles, were secured and collected as evidence.
Parkweg police requests that any member of the public who might have witnessed the attack or have information that can help in the investigation of the shooting incident to contact Captain Sabata Jafta Moseme at 082 526 2713.
