The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng, Major General Mbuso Khumalo, joined a multidisciplinary roadblock operation on the N12 in Springs, Ekurhuleni District, led by the Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier David Ngcobo.
The operation brought together various stakeholders, including Home Affairs, Gauteng Traffic Police, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), Mpumalanga Traffic Police, private security, and the Community Policing Forum (#CPF).
During the roadblock, a total of 54 suspects(illegal immigrants) arrested for being in the country illegally.
One suspect was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, while another four were arrested for possession of drugs.
Traffic officials also issued fines to the value of R12,000 for various traffic violations(Traffic charges).
In addition, one second-hand goods shop was closed for non-compliance, and three liquor outlets were shut down for contravening regulations.
