Children protection across South Africa continues as we celebrate Women Month

South African children’s still endures the all of sort of abuse and as previously minor as age of 13 have been kidnapped by Nigerian Citizens.

The total number of 15 young girl between the age of 13-16 were kidnapped and being forced into prostitution.

Apart of that, they are still children’s who being abused by their parents as some of them are not getting foods.

Recently the Huge South African Radio Broadcasting took initiative to help the Children’s who doesn’t have shoes and clothes.

Here is the statement released by Department of Social Development:

NB: Child abuse in South Africa remains at crisis levels. The Department of Social Development recorded over 26,000 cases of child abuse and neglect in the 2024/25 period, with the National Child Protection Register logging nearly 9,000 additional cases of abuse including over 3,200 sexual abuse incidents in the first three quarters of the 2025/26 financial year.

The most recent figures for recorded abuse cases reflect these devastating numbers:

Sexual Abuse: Almost 9,900 cases are recorded annually, with a sharp, worrying increase in statutory rape cases.

Deliberate Neglect: Over 9,400 cases of severe neglect are reported yearly.

Physical Abuse: Nearly 4,000 cases are documented.Child Abandonment: Around 600 cases of abandonment are reported annually.

Note: Long-term Prevalence and Vulnerability

UNICEF reporting indicates that 58% of children between ages 5 and 16 have been victimized or directly witnessed sexual abuse, and 25% of children face violence within their own homes.

Broad studies show that 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 5 boys will experience some form of violence before turning 18.
