According to SAPS statement: BSP Consulting Engineers with its two Directors, Mr Bevan Steyn (55) and Mr Bradley Plaatjies (50), together with the Municipal Manager (MM), Mr Rufus Beukes (42) ,Speaker Mr Melvin Cloete (50).
Senior Accountant Mrs Rose Cloete(43), Personal Assistant Ms Melishia Nero (37), Cleaner Ms Fianna Fortuin (41) of Kamiesberg Municipality, Garies and Ms Aniston Fielding (22) made a brief appearance before Garies Magistrates Court today, 19 March 2026 facing charges of fraud, corruption and money laundering.
The arrests were effected earlier today by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation team after a thorough investigation by the team on allegations made by a complainant pertaining to kickbacks and corruption taking place at Kamiesberg Local Municipality.
It is alleged that during November 2024, BSP Consultant Engineers submitted a fraudulent invoice to Kamiesberg Local Municipality for work that was not done and they were paid a total amount of R216 284-66.
It is further alleged that an amount of R75 000 was paid to a Ms Fielding capitec bank account which was then distributed to different bank accounts that belonged to employees of Kamiesberg Local Municipality.
